INVITATION TO SUNDAY BRUNCH

It was obvious to our bewildered hedonists that certain aspects of their love life had gotten a little out of hand, the night before. I believe that the two, so-called, libertines realized that no matter how adventurous they may claim to have been, their own beliefs and core convictions would force the couple to confront one another. It would be a meeting where lines and boundaries had to and must be drawn.

As far as, Stella-Ann was concerned she had to deal with an ever-stronger inner conflict. As a soldier and veteran, she desperately needed a corner, mentally, of course (total military thing). She was tied up into a million knots. But mentally and emotionally she needed to accomplish one pertinent task.

My Battle Buddy needed to find a corner to, as a soldier would say, unfuck herself and find her bearings. The issues stirring about within her had to be dress right dressed, and rather quickly. Brunch with Mr. Bart would be the perfect opportunity, for such a challenging mental exercise… and it was on.

The irony of the situation was the fact that it was Bart who felt compelled to confront the issue of morality with Stella. I would guess his instincts were stabbing him in the ribs. He knew the entire ordeal with Julia upset Stella, tremendously. The wise gentleman had but two choices, confront her, or wait until she confronted him.

Bart is always a strategic thinker. The latter would not serve his objective. He decided to take the high road, or rather matters into his own hands. He would muster the courage to bring the issue out into the open, thus demonstrating to his dear Stella that he did have some inkling of moral fiber.

Inkling my ass, Bart was a control freak. He did not want to lose Stella-Ann because of a woman like Julia, rather he brought her into their lives or not. He was under no illusion to be perfectly honest. In fact, the total opposite, for a change. Very transparent. What the hell was his true hold on Stella, or was I looking at this from too much of a cynical and emotional prospective? What hold did my Battle Buddy number one… have on Mr. Bart? Time would surely tell. (Or was Mr. Bart’s time up?)
